This past Sunday night Pastor Deek shared from Exodus 35-36 on the subject of giving and serving.  Those chapters record the story of Moses coming down from the mountain after having met with God.

God had instructed Moses to build a sanctuary.  Moses shared these instructions with his people and they exemplified what it is to give and serve in the cause of God’s work on the earth.

Ex. 35:21 says,

And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the Lord’s contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments.”

Ex. 36:1 says that,

Every craftsman in whom the Lord has put skill and intelligence to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work in accordance with all that the Lord has commanded.”

Building upon this story our sermon concluded with three practical thoughts on the practice of giving and serving:

  1. Giving and serving are not just intentions, they are actions.
  2. Giving and serving are not the special duty of a select few, they are the responsibility and privilege of all who dare call themselves Christians.
  3. Giving and serving cannot earn favor with God, but they can evidence a right relationship with Him.
